The gap was never the technology. It was the understanding before it.
Origin
Gilva Labs began in 2019 as a two-person consultancy answering a question that kept reappearing in different industries wearing different costumes: why do so many capable companies struggle to turn what they know into systems that work? The founders had spent a decade on opposite sides of that struggle — one selling and scaling products, one building and rescuing them — and kept meeting in the middle of the same conclusion: the gap was never the technology. It was the understanding that should have come before it.
The name
gilvus — Latin. The colour of pale gold; of honey held up to light.
The name comes from the Latin gilvus — the colour of pale gold, of honey held up to light. It was chosen as a quiet promise: the value is already inside the organizations we work with, in their people, their data, their accumulated judgment. Our work is to refine it until it holds its shape. The orange thread in our identity is that colour, used sparingly — the way insight appears in a long investigation.
Vision
A world where companies stop buying technology and start building capability. Where the question 'can we?' is always preceded by 'should we?' — and where the systems a business runs on are as deliberately designed as the products it sells.
Philosophy
Understanding before building
We have ended engagements by recommending nothing be built. Those clients trust us most. The most expensive software in the world is the right solution to the wrong problem.
Outcomes, not output
We don't measure our work in features shipped or sprints completed. We measure it in hours returned, decisions improved, and workarounds retired. If the business didn't change, the project didn't happen.
Judgment stays human
We automate clerical work and amplify human judgment — never the reverse. The systems we build make the people who use them more capable, more informed, and more trusted. Adoption follows respect.
Nothing is finished
Every product we ship enters a cycle, not a shelf. Investigation feeds implementation feeds improvement feeds investigation. The companies that win are the ones still asking questions in year five.
Leadership

Carlos Guzmán
CEO & Growth DirectorCarlos spent twelve years taking products to market for companies that built well but sold poorly — and noticed the inverse problem was just as common. At Gilva Labs he leads strategy, discovery and client growth, and personally opens every engagement's first week of fieldwork. He believes the most valuable deliverable in consulting is a question the client hadn't thought to ask.

Alexander Guzmán
COO & Technical DirectorAlexander has rescued more systems than he has built — a career spent inside other people's architectures taught him that durability is a design decision, not a hardware budget. He leads engineering, delivery and the 3I methodology's technical practice, and still reviews the data model of every project Gilva ships. He believes the best technical work is the kind nobody has to think about five years later.
If our way of working resonates, the next move is a conversation.
