Sherry Bomb — Food & Beverage case study by Gilva Labs
01

The Situation

Sherry Boom had the product and the following, but nothing connecting them. Customers asked for hours, the menu, and specials through Instagram, TikTok, and Messenger, and many of those messages waited until someone had a free moment. There was no way to order ahead, so the line at the counter was the only way to buy. Social media was posted when there was time, with no plan and no ads reaching locals, and the brand looked different on the sign, the cup, and every social profile. Regulars were recognized in person but nowhere else. The shop was not short on customers. It was short on the systems to keep up with them.

The Strategy

We spent time behind the counter and in the inbox, mapping how a customer finds the shop, asks a question, orders, and comes back. The pattern was clear: people discovered Sherry Boom on social media and decided at the counter, with nothing in between to make that decision easier.

Business Evolution

Sherry Boom evolved into a business where every channel points to the same place. Locals discover the shop through consistent posts, reels, and ads, get an instant answer with the ordering link, order ahead for pickup, and are recognized when they come back. Charles still makes the malts the way he did on the cliff, but the business around them now works without him chasing it.

The reel

It looks like a reel. It is how Gilva automated Sherry Boom, a Santa Cruz malt shop built on grandma's recipe.

The website is where the order happens. A customer picks a malt, makes it theirs, and orders for pickup, straight to the shop. Behind it, every message on Instagram, TikTok, and Messenger gets an instant reply with the order link. Regulars are recognized, and their perks apply on their own.

The video is the marketing piece that walks through that site and that system. One short story, instead of a tour of separate tools.

Client Perspective

Before Gilva, the business lived behind the counter. If you weren't standing in line, you weren't a customer yet. Now people find us, get an answer and order before they even reach the shop, and our regulars feel remembered every time they come back. The malts are still made the same way. Everything around them finally keeps up.
